So what chassis is everyone going to run this season? We have a Harris (1998 i think) and hopefully we will be ordering a 2002 Harris in the winter... what are you running?

I don't want to get on here and bash anyone, but I want to tell you what happened to me with Harris. I built a 2000 chassis, raced it a few times, and bent the front clip. I tried to order all the parts I needed and Harris didn't have any of them in stock. I had to order all of them from Scott Busby in California, and still did not get the front clip because he didn't have one in stock. It is absolutley ridiculous to be a chassis manufacture and not have enough pieces in stock to ship parts on Monday morning. That is not the type of service I need from anybody. I have since converted everything on this car so I don't have a thing from Harris, including the front clip. If I were going to buy a new car this year, I would certainly buy a Lightning. I still to day, have not recieved even an appoligy from Harris, nor have I ordered the first part from them since. The sad fact is I absolutley love the car. It is unbeatable when the track blacks over, but my opinion is anything can be fast, when it is set up right.

We have been racing Harris's for years...and won a ton with them. We also have a jig for them, just in case we ever got into your situation. The cars have always been dependable. I agree though, that is bad on Harris's behalf to not apologize. Good luck to you this season!

Dirt there proven first 5 places over here every week. i have an old dirt works now...and would prolly get another one if i buy a new chassis. although HOT chassis catches my attention in there simplicity...and there fast....some say there too lightweight...but hey..are you going out to crash..or win.?

I have been around quite a few of these different chassis..including all listed above.....and our new Custom Performance Black Diamond is the best built, lightest car I have seen of these. Richard takes pride in his work and it definitely shows up in his work.

Thinkin about buyin a GRS due to my familiarity with the Rocket late models. That is, if I don't move to Charlotte.

reason you had problems with harris is they were going broke and didnt have a thing in stock about the time you bought your car. during 2000 it was sold before the end of the year. since the new owner has moved it and has things in place service is back to where it used to be or close.

I agree with you custom. The reason for the bad service was due the sale of the business. But the fact still remained that I had a car that was torn up, I could not get parts for it, and I had 2 choices, park until they came back to life or fix it myself. I am not wealthy, but I do have more money than time. That is why I buy what I beleive to be the best in the business, and in this instance I had no choice but to fix the car myself. I also live from sales and if I had put one of my customers through something like that, I would have made it right. The new owners of Harris, appearantly didn't see it that way and decided to make me an offer of me bring the car to them stripped down, them fix it for $1200.00, and me go back and pick it up. Between the repair cost being way out of line, and me living in North Carolina, I saw that as a decision on there part that I was an expenable loss. With all of that, I will never have a good word for the present Harris Auto Racing. Like I said before, I have driven Harris chassis for a total of 5 years and have absolutely loved them until last year. I am still running the car, and when I buy a new one, it will be a Lightning.

I know exactly what you are talking about, I've driven the Harris car the last three years and I love them, However, I'm building my own car now, which I have done in the past. There are many things that are expendable to the new owner, wait and see how quickly it will surface, It wont be long.

I will be running a 2002 Badger Racing Chassis out of Wisconsin next year. These are fast, dependable, affordable modifieds. There isnt a whole lot more I can ask for in a chassis builder.

For the 2002 season Duhon's Racing will be running their D-MaX ChassiS. In 2001 season Duhon's Racing/ D-Max Chassis raced away with the UMP Louisiana points title and track championship at Thunder Valley Speedway, crediting him with 19 Feature wins. I would also like to congratulate Joey Couvillion, T.J. Hutchson, Steve Vorhees, Ron Dousay, Tippy Bicknell, and Jeff Martello on there 2001 season all driving a D-Max Chassis. Expecting the 2002 season to be outstanding year.

Tried to buy a 2002 Eagle, but things didn't work out.
So we'll still be running our 96 GRT, out of 18 races last year had 13 top 5's, so it should get us by for another year until we can afford a new Eagle chassis.

Just bought my first DW!!!

The craftsmanship that went into building this car certainly leaves my old 98 Shaw in the dark age.

Bought the 4-bar / RR swing arm style rear suspension.

Anyone got any speed secrets to help me get started?

Rooster was right on about the new owner at Harris,if one of the best modified drivers ever is expendable, then his business might be also.Shryock brought alot of people to Harris, and he will take alot with him wherever he goes.Good luck Kelly, good riddance Clark.

I am glad I found someone here to convert some on my 2000 Harris. Now I can replace anything without having to call Harris. With the recent departure of Kelly, there is no reason left to buy a Harris. What a shame for someone to throw a business like that in the toilet. I have only talked to Clark once and I will never talk to him again....that's for sure.

I have never had a new chassis till this season. I have seen whats fast and talked to alot of chassis builders. I met Rich of Custom Performance, and my mind changed he has alot of info to offer and he is willing to build a car to suit your taste. I think the chassis to watch this year is gonna be the Black Diamond of Custom Performance!!!!
