How many of you know of a local chassis manufacturer or a homebuilt that wins features on a regular basis? All I ever see are the big name's, maybe I'm missing somebody's secrets.

We run an Eagle II chassis. Eagle is a small builder in Texas and has an OUTSTANDING chassis. Jerry is always available to answer our questions and with his personal help we run in the front every night and win our share of races.

These are really honest, nice people. I will ALWAYS run an Eagle from now on. He even put us up front in our old Harris, then asked us why we needed a new car when we were winning with the old one. We did finaly convince him we just WANTED one of his cars so we got one. It was ready in less than a month.

When we picked it up, (and this is no lie, he has his own track) he installed our drivetrain for us while we shot the breeze and then we did probably 300 laps while he set it up for us. He must have changed springs, shocks and adjusted that car 100 times. We have not run less than second since.

We found him on the web at WWW.EAGLEII.COM

His Ph# is (956) 262-6611 and his e-mail is
JRRGS@AOL.COM

You can't beat his deals. Our car was $9850 and it even had the motor plate and radiator! We brought our motor, tranny, gears and driveshaft. Presto! Race Car!

We are SOME HAPPY RACERS!

THERE ARE MANY LOCAL CHASSIES THAT ARE CAPABLE OF WINNING ON A REGULAR BASIS. MANY ARE RELUCTANT TO RUN THEM BECAUSE OF THE LOW NUMBERS OF THEM AND THE LACK OF FEEDBACK FROM SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DRIVERS OF THE VARIOUS BIG NAME DRIVERS GET. DONT BE AFRAID OF THE LOCAL BUILDER BECAUSE MANY TIMES HE IS WILLING TO BUILD A CAR JUST THE WAY YOU WANT IT , SOME BUILDERS WONT STRAY FROM THEIR COOKIE CUTTER CARS TO CHANGE SOMETHING.

You are right Richard, a small local builder is often much more receptive to feedback from a local guy running his chassis. He welcomes the info as it may offer him the thoughts to make changes that make his product better and more competitive. Also he wil offer you much more flexibility as to making changes you may want in your car to make it beter suited to your driving style.

I'm new at this so if I ***** it up you'll need to forgive me. Right now I'd have to say the best car on the market right now is a Big Dog Chassis out of Thedford Nebraska. The car has only been out on the market 2 years and has such a list of wins and national rankings it is impossible to list them all. Last year this chassis lead the IMCA national points race until the driver changed brands of cars. This year a Big Dog is leading the national points right now with a different driver. At Lincoln County Raceway all the sanctioned events have been won by Big Dogs this year. The one and only race not won by a Big Dog was the shoot out. A Big Dog lead all but the last 2 laps. The driver got excited and blew into turn 3 on the last 2 laps and pushed up just enough to let Wayne Brooks get under him. He passed him back and cleared him the first time it happened but just didn't have time to get him back going into the checkers. This is a second year modified driver battling Wayne Brooks back and forth. Wayne had his hands full. Third place was Ron Jones, forth was another Big Dog. These cars may or may not be the absolute best car on the market but they are a car that young drivers with average talent can go out and be competitive. To many cars today are only fast when the right guy drives them. Give Garold a call during the week, he's probably racing this weekend. (308) 645-2362.

Foremost, I think the communication and information you obtain from a builder is critical. There are many quality cars out there, some are well known, some are mom and pop shops. 1R made some great points, I just need to add my plug!! There is another manufacturer in the mid-west that builds a quality car, which is co-leading the National IMCA Points chase. There is a great battle for the points IMCA points chase, it will be close to the end!! "Belleville Motorsports" out of Kansas has been building mods for about 7 years. They're a distributor for many parts co. and would guess they've built 200+ mods since they started. Check them out on the web at wwww.bmsmods.com

Check out the Laser Chassis website. So far this season we have three feature wins at Florence Speedway in Ky. and too many top 5's to count. Last year we bent the rear clip and they had it back to us within a week.

What is the FR1 leaf chassis? How much does this car weigh wet? Are they competetive?
