I've never had a problem with Simpson, I've always followed there efforts to keep us as safe as possible. There are way to many questions about these failures, I don't think that I can say that this is a Simpson problem. I'm sure there will be more info coming soon, as for now I will leave my Simpson belts in the car, I just have a feeling that there is more to each of these storys.........just my opinion.

You are very correct Rooster, there has to way more to the story than what we here and read...I just didnt get Simpson belts cause I found some that met the same requirement's for less money......However I wouldnt trade my Simpson Bandit8 helmet for another brand ever...

Give me a break I can't believe these belts could have been put in improperly. These guys aren't dummies they know how to install a set of belts. It must mean something to some of you guys that these belts are ripping right at a stitch line.Im sure Simpson has always tried to provide the safest product they could but as everyone knows when you think nothing can happen it will!Everyone needs to pay attention to these safety features & most dont. How many times have you went to your car to visually inspect your seatbelts before racing. These little things are most always the things that get you hurt or cause a breakdown on the track.I guess what I'm saying is we all need to check ourselves and equipment before each race always.

I read this article at the url- I think most accept the risks involved with the sport- yes- we look to the manufactures for their experience in the business of safety, but ya gotta remember that everything out there has the human error factor to deal with and no product is going to be 100% full proof in every instance- it's not possible- we are humans! and so - let's just leave it at that- I am sure Simpson will look into it if they feel it is neccessary-

I'll tell you what is bothering me, besides the fact that I have Simpson belts in my car. When NASCAR had a press conference to announce that Earnhardt's lap belt broke, they also said that they had never seen a belt fail like that in 52 years. Is this the same NASCAR that is helping pay this young man's medical expenses. How could they not know about this belt failure? Should I trust NASCAR and Simpson to release the details as to what is causing the problems with the belts? I'm not going to bet on it with my life.

That is exactly what is bothering me about the situation. I think they were trying to cover it up, when those pics were released by the medical examiner, it showed it and opened up the can of worms. If it were not for those pics, I dont think we would have ever known the truth. Especially since Simpson is an affiliate of Nascar....

Just my thoughts.

You may be right - they are BIG BUSINESS- lots of bucks behind them and although I would certainly hope if they found a real problem- something that can or could be corrected by Simpson-it will be- but we all know how money talks.

Simpson products are the best in the business and when it's your time to go it is your time to go. If there is a problem it must be an isolated one say one in literally thousands. Accept responsibility for the actions and situations you put yourself in. Racing is a dangerous sport and to think you are safe because you have a brand X belt instead of brand Y is crazy. Simpson is as safe or safer than any brand out there. So remember those one in a million accidents happen,if there is a problem with multiple belts I know Bill Simpson will correct it or quit making belts all together. If he quits who will you buy from.... if one of their belts fail....then who? Failures occur especially in a production run of thousands.
