When did the "newer" style 350 start?

If the rules say that you have to run a motor that came out in that car, does it say for that manufacturer or that type of car?

Many rules are worded so you could run an old vette engine in that monte.

I race a new style single peice rear seal block(97 vortec truck block).17 is right the stuff is more expensive. The oil pan gasket is $40 byitself. If ya dont have a crank and stuff that may get expensive. But as far as heads and intake I run older heads and intake the deck on the new block is taller than the older ones.I found out all this after I got into the block. So just giving you something to go on here.

I would take the heads, crank, and rods from the 305. Buy light hyper pistons and have it all put in the 350 block if they have the same style rear main seal. A good blue racer cam and run it. Cheap and quick. Lets get on the track before we think about having the fastest best motor out there.

I also have an 83 monte. Spend the money on the handling, springs, shocks, tires, etc. Motor with horsepower is useless if the car does not handle. I learned the hard way. Car now looks like a derby car.
