I run an 86 cutlass supreme with a 350 turbo transmission. The last few years I ran a rod down to the trans but found that it was very hard to select reverse because of the stiffness of the shifter. Any ideas on what other guys run or improvements I could make?

what i did was bolt a peice of angle to the floor and bolted a rod about 6 inches long to it and bolted the rod from the trans to that . it works pretty good. if you live around a radiator shop or a junk yard with semi trucks , the radiator in the trucks has aliminum flat rods that holds down the top and bottom tanks , these work realy good, they already have the bolt holes in them. be sure not to get the bolts tight, just tighten them down to where it wont wobble and you can still move the shift lever easily and double nut the end of the bolt and make sure they are tight. hope this helps.

Thanx dreamcatcher! I did pretty much what you suggested and it worked great. I used flat stock as the linkage and a light piece
of square tubing to bolt the pivot to. Thanx again. BlackBart.
