Im running a high performance hei distributor and i have had to replce the rotor button 3 times now due to the metal piece on the button turning sideways. Any ideas?

Is that the piece under the coil or the actual rotar that sends the spark to each cylinder? I thought to make sure the shaft isn't worn out first, but that's only if it's the rotor.

the metal piece under the ceramic button is whats twisting sideways. JJ

it sounds like your cap is worn out or the coil is not sitting it its spot correctly. check to if the button moves up and down alot under the coil if it does then the coil may not be tightened all the way down(been there done that).

Good answer Evans also make sure the shaft isn't bent and that the clamp scews are locked correctly

alright fellows, i checked everything you posted and couldnt find anything wrong.But here is what i did find wrong, there were 2 plastic tits hanging down in dist. cap and that was hitting the rotor button metal piece and twisting it. JJ
