I need to buy a set of tires for my car. I'm limited to 8 inch tires, no sidewall limitations. I have run 225 and 235 70 series in the past and was wondering if stepping down to a 225 and 235 60 series is worth while. Anyone have any input on this?

as long as your geared for it go for it wider is better lol. firestone makes some pretty good 235/60/15's think they are around an 81-82 in roll

go as wide as you can but watch your tire roll i think my firestone 235\70\15 are 86inches if u go to to 235\60\15 there about 82 inches.every inch of roll out is about 100 rpm so if u go to the 60's you'll gain about 400rpm.

You said limited to 8" tires. Do you mean wheels?

8 inches across the top of the tire is what they measure.

A couple guys at my track ran those last year and they didn't seem to do real well, slipping and sliding everywhere. I ran BFG t/a's and they were some sticky mo fo's, especially towards the end of the night when the track starts to dry out. I've also tried a couple firestones, a dunlop, a michelin, and a goodyear, but the bfg's seem to work the best for me, of course that was on a totally different car so we will see. any one else use these tires with any success besides me?
