The best thing to probably do is spot weld it to the pump. When I bought an aftermarket stock appearing pan I had to use a different pick up. It had a slot to bolt it to the pump. But like I said, stock pump and stock pick up I'd just spot weld.

you are supposed to tack weld the pickup tube to the pump. It presses in then you just put a couple of tacks to make sure it doesn't fall off.

It's also impertive that you set the pick-up tube the proper distance off the floor of the pan. I believe it's 3/8", but I'm not sure of this. You may want to solict input on this subject from either this posting, or maybe pose the question in the Engine Tech Talk section.

Do not reuse the pickup it is only good for one "press" then it's crushed.

better yet trade it in(under warranty if you can)for the new style pump(i beleive it's made by melling)that has a bolt on pickup, and not one that bolts up to the old style pump as this is a totally new design, someone should have done this a long time ago.
