I think the old MC 72-77 may be about right if not will they not let you sleeve the bottom to extend it?

yes thats one of my options but i don't realy want to have to mess with tring to make a mounting plate on the botton to make up the gap between the fire wall

There is a teflon pin in the steering shaft.
drill it out and you can get 3" more

This is the same thing you have to do on a 4x4 truck to make the steering long enough
to put a 3" body lift on it.

i still need some way to connect it to the fire wall or the colum will be sloppy over time we did that last year on a buddies car and it would start to bind if he didn't loosen the bolts and center it every week

yeah I see your problem there I don't guess there would be a way to strap it maybe add a small bar down low and use a u type clamp on the top and bottom?

try an older cadillac or full size car, lengthening the lower tube before the firewall mounting flange shouldn't be that difficult.

do the rules allow you to extend the steering shaft out longer where the steering wheel connects? if so weld a coupler on the shaft then slide another shaft into it with steering wheel hub welded to it for your wheel release. support it up with a piece round or square tubing welded to roll cage with shaft going thur and oversize steering shaft support heim. hope this makes sence.lol

use the column out of a 77 olds 98.its a telescoping unit.they move out 4 inches further than a normal steering column.

thanks guys nate that is what i was going to do but they said no go they put this rule in to keep the set back cages out of the class but you know i'm a racer so i gotta find a way to get around the rules some how lol i tried one off my 84 le sabre but it's actully shorter then the metric one think i may just have to cut the knuckle out and run a straight tube down to it thats where we ran into trouble with the other one was that knuckle
