I have a 86 cutlass and the rear frame horns are rusted out in spots.
All of the rust is behind the spring towers.

Can anyone help me on how to streight frame the rear ??

Are there any books that show how to, or does anyone have anything they could E-Mail me ??

Thank You, 20bmw

take some 2x3 .095 wall tubing and just cut the frame horns off at the bottom of the arch if that rusted too you'll just have to cut it on the factory welded seam and make an angle piece to get down to where it should start to flatten out and extend it out there

Do it just like racer17j says. I emailed you some pics of my 2003 Terminator rear frame that is rebuilt with square tube.

hey 20bmw,, i have a buick that the rear horns were rusted out,and i got a peice of 3inch angle iron and welded it to the frame, and to the steel part of my bumper.Ridged as **** .That was cheap, cause i picked the piece of angle up at my job site.Only has to be 2 0r 3 foot long.Hope that helps...

gordon i've seen them done that way and it's not realy a good idea welding to rusty metal also now if you get hit in the bumper it's not going to give like a bumper should and might bend the frame or break the metal around the welds it's best to replace it if you see holes

best bet would be to hunt down one that somebody thru out thats bent in the front or find a chassis builder that might have some sometimes they are only rusted on one side and the other is good yet so they will keep it around

Yes, at the tracks i will be running they will let you tube the rear but it has to be behind the rear springs.

They say it is a safety thing and they don`t want fuel cells mounted in rusted out frames.

they had to many close calls that could of turned out real bad..

Definately,go with the 2x3 tubing, out the sides and across the back. This will make it very strong.
