Were building a new car for a guy and I'd like to know the stock 12 bolt will be good. He's running a half mile track in a 1975 Buick regal chassis.

if you have to run a gm rear end thats the onre to run you have a better choice of gears with it and it's stronger then 10 bolts the only draw back is they are getting hard to find in junk yards if you ever need to replace the housing i seen one last nite on ebay with a posi unit for the low reserve of $999 so that tells you someting lol

I like the 10 bolt rear-end better than the 12 bolt. I have seen people have more problems out of the 12 bolt then I have had in my 10 bolt. I have raced with my 10 bolt since 94.

My bad !! It has a 10 bolt in it. He can run a 9", but will the 10 bolt compare ?? I heard that the 9" rears are heavier and they rob Horse power. Any thoughts ???

run the 9" while it might be heavier, it is also far safer and superior to the gm units..also a lot easier to change axles!

if you can run a 9 inch i'd do it like outlaw said it's safer also the changing of gears is so much simplier and options of gears you can run is almost endless compared to a gm rear end

Do you run the c-clip eliminators? How wide are the tires you're running?
