This will be our second year for running a late 70's (metric) 2 door Caprice. We run at two different tracks, one clay, one gumbo, both 3/8 mile and banked. We now have the car down to the bare frame and are starting back. My question is; how can we make the car better and what do I need to look for? Solid supension bushings? Manual transmission? Brakes? Mount body solid to frame? We are open to any suggestions, Thank YOu.

I would leave the bushings the way they are, chevy did lots of research to make those and why should anyone change them for something that is a copy of the original. Racing springs and shocks are good, if your rules say "stock appearing" then get the ones that are. If you can run a manual tranny, do! Brakes, here again, stay with stock, they work, maybe some good brake shoes but the rest will be good. move the body back some if possible and to the left, but that may be illegal by your rules.
hope that helps some.

Shorten the frame and put a Monte Carlo body on it.

Thanks for the help. We went through the Springs and Shocks last season. We are looking into moving the body, is it easier to change the frame or change the body mounts to get the setback?
