Check list-be sure the brakes work on all four wheels-rookies do not need to start out using 3 wheel brakes! And be sure the fuel line doesn't have a kink anywhere--that cost me a feature start once in a new car!

You'll be fine! Take about three pee's before you get in the car to line up. If you qualify, start where you are supposed to-don't go to the back, you are already faster than the guys behind you. Take a moment and give thanks to God for getting you this far (you've fufilled a dream that a bunch of guys will never fulfill) Fire that mutha up and have fun!!!

had a good night everyone!!!went out for practice and ran one lap .felt vibration going into one dropped a driveshaftcoming out of two .practice over. went to pits and you should of seen the thrashing going on.thanks to alot of my buds that were there for my support.we got it all put back together well before heats.heat race i drew a large # so i was gonna start at the back ,didn't hurt my feelings none. had a miss and never could get over 4200 rpms out it.finished 5th out of 8 so not bad.distributor was loose so thought it was our problem, retimed and thought we were ready.started 11th ,held my own stayed out of troubleand brought it home with only a little crinkle in front left bumper and a 6th place to boot woo hoo . now to this miss. sound fine in the pits but when i got on the gas it was all spittin and missin. my thought its in the distributor, this morning we found a burned spark plug wire but it wasn't like that before th main and had the miss all night long. probably change the guts on the dist. and the carb if i can find one thanks

I might've missed it from earlier posts, but what carb are you running? Before looking there, tho, try closing your spark plug gaps down to like .026-.028" and see if the skip changes/improves/goes away. If so, then it's definitely electrically related and could either be in the distributor, or bad plug wire(s) or something along those lines.
You didn't mention how the plugs looked, so I'll take a guess that the carb could be way too lean and you're getting that lean "pop" that happens when the carb literally runs out of fuel at higher rpms.
Another thing it could possibly be is weak valve springs. Check your valve spring seat pressures and see if they are capable of handling the job that your cam is asking of them.
And most of all, let us know how it goes.

I am thinking the module in the distributor is stock, if it is, take it out and use an accell or a dyna mod from performance distributors. Let us know if that was the problem or it was somthing else.

beenworking on it all week! Changed cap, rotor, module, and coil, and wires(all stock, will invest in race parts over winter)spit and sputter still there.turned fuel screww 1/2 turn out and adjusted timing by ear, spitt and sputter gone.plugs are real light tan w/one dark spot toward exhaust.my thought is that carb (quadrajet) needed more fuel and or timing was off i thought i marked up the harmonic balancer right but i guess not i used the # out of toolbox for 34deg and looking at timing tab with factory mark at 0 it is below that. can't wait till saturday night!!!

We had a good night sat. got to actuallyrun some halfway competitive laps .still got a little sputter when i get on it hard.if i'm easy on the gas it don't seem to as bad . in the main when i was pulling out to line up the shift to 2nd tore all the cotterpins out of the shifter, couldn't get it into 4th. back to the pits,my buds got under and put it in fourth went out and run right behind the pack 1 lap down.its all right i think we got it working and maybe we can finally make a showing for next year. i think i need to learn to adjust a carb what do you think??? thanks for everything...
