What do you suggest for a final ratio for the rear end at a 1/2 mile track? We currently have a 350 GM Tranny and 2.73 with a little more powerful than stock, wink wink, Chevy 400. I like to run it in 2nd and I am looking to run between 5500-6000 RPMs. If anyone can give me some suggestions as to the best final ratio it would be appreciated. With the ratio I have now I am leaving a lot on the table and would like to maximize my potential.

Go until you see God, then turn left.

if you use 3.73 gears you will do fine if you run that turbo 350 in 2nd

If you play with gears a bit you can run
1st gear in a turbo 350 with 256s in the rear. It has enough to get off the corners & it doesn't tack out to soon.

what are you running for a tire roll and what is the track like i run a 3.23 wirh 81 in tires on a small 1/2 it's a half on the outside turn 5500 i'm assuming your tires are around 83-84 so i would suggest going with the 3.73 that should put you up around your 6000 mark
