I race a 84 monte carlo on a half mile dirt track. I slapped the wall with passenger front side and now it pulls to the right but I see nothing bent, what could I have knocked out of line. , and i have the top a fram on passenger side shimed all the way out and the driver side has none. Does this sound close cause I have no camber/caster gauge. How do I set this thing up. Any hepl would be great.

check your toe and see if it is toed out or in real bad and all so check your front end spindel to see if it is bent

Try slapping the car on the left!! Thats what I do. Straightens em right up!! LMAO
Check a bit closer to the frame horn and tie rods.

if you are running stock uppers look very closely it can be very hard to tell they are bent also check the mounting area for the arm I would take it off check for bends also check the steering arm

When you say you have it shimmed all the way out, what do you mean, is it all the way out towards the motor or have you taken all the shims out to get the wheel back out to the outside of the car?
If you have another frame to look at, and your certain its straight, measure it and then measure your car, and compare them. Use the holes that the factory put in the frames for whatever reason they do that, I did this with mine and determined that I bent it about 1\8th of an inch, not enough to get worked up about.
I do agree with Flatlander, it is very difficult to determine if the A frames are bent, I ran with a bent one for about half a season before I figured out it was messed up.
One way to check your caster is to get the car on flat level ground and use a carpenters square (i think thats what its called) looks like an "L". Make sure its tall enough to get all the tire. and set it flat on the ground with the long part up against your tire. On the RF it should not touch the tire on the top, on the LF it should not touch it on the bottom. As for how much, I am not sure what will work for you, but about 1/4 to 1/2 on RF and about 1/4 on the LF then adjust from there to suit you.

ok thanks for the replys,on the right front I have the top shimed all the way so that the top of the tire leans toward the engine is this right, also what about the lf do I wabt the top of tire leaned in toward engine also. Also about mesuring to see if its strait are you refering to the fram?

On the rf you want the top of the tire leaning toward the engine and on the lf leaning away. The measurements for the upper a arm they are talking about are on another car with a known straight arm......then take the same measurements with your car. My guess is it is bent. We had to put 3 on this year. Good luck

I think the advice on checking for bent parts is right on. However, if nothing is bent then the car pulling right is a caster problem, not camber.

Camber is the lean in or out of the top of the tire, caster is the position of the top ball joint in relation to the bottom ball joint. If the car is pulling right the caster split is backwards.

Without a caster/camber guage its tough to measure but when looking down from the top ball joints they should be a little behind the lower ball joints. The RF top ball joint should be more behind the bottom than it is on the LF, this is caster split. The more caster split the more the car will want to pull left, but this will make it more difficult to steer right and correct the car. If the left upper ball joint is further behind the bottom than on the right the caster split is backwards and will make the car steer right.

When that wall comes out and ***** you in, that energy is sucked up by your front parts,and all that shock has to go some where. Tie rod ends and ball joints hate walls,spindles really hate walls(especially metric frames)
Take a half hour of time and do some measuring of frame points,jack it up and check ball joints,look over the upper A frame,most likely it's junk. Since you have the top A frame off to replace,take the bottom off and weld a plate in it to beef it up.

A good way of keeping an eye on your a-frames is to paint them a bright color and really lay the paint on thick and if it cracks off you know there might be a problem.
