My track won't allow beadlocks in purestock but you can run innertubes. My question is do you need tubes on the left side or will the tires roll off without them.

I went to a track 2 weeks ago and I run a sportsman car also known as a road hog. Well there road hogs are not allowed to run beadlocks and it think thats a bunch of crap. But besides that I run tubes in all my tires, besides my beadlocks and my 2" offset wheels. I don't known really anyone that dont run tubes so go out and get em....

We have run tubes all year long, and not had a single flat. Plus, we can run low tire pressures without worrying about rolling a bead.

My track is the same, no beadlocks but you can tube any tires you want. I tube the right side only and have never had a flat on the left, I did lose a tire and rim one time but that was for different reasons...LOL.
I don't run the tubes on the left because it increases the total weight of the tire by about 4-5 lbs, less weight- less rotating mass, with less rotating mass the RPM increases faster.

uforacing51 is right, the less rotating mass the better. I would highly recommend tubes on the outside, and be sure to mark your spares in case of a quick tire change during the race if you have a tire change rule. Another little trick to prevent flats is drill another hole on the inside of the rim and have the valve stem go to the inside. Ive never blown a tire for 2 years, except for the time one got slashed..LOL Good Luck!

Try to make sure you don't spin your tire on the rim as well ,this will cause the tube to tear, use some kind of sticky compound on the bead .We use puncture seal in a can and it seems to work.

i've run tubes and i've run the same tires tubeless. i haven't had many problems with running tubes, but there are some. the RR is one corner where i won't use a tube. the tire and the tube don't like each other, especially on the RR. even with baby powder,
they will chafe each other, generating heat and eventually, it will wear a hole in the tube.

there is also a weight advantage to running the tires tubeless. the rear wheels, tires and tubes are basically "reciprocating weight" as the engine has to accelerate them to get the car moving.

for these two reasons, i use lightweight wheels and tubeless tires on the rear and tubes on the front. i also use lightweight wheels on the front, but it's not as important as on the rear.

just my opinion.

Wheels, tires, and tubes are actually "rotating weight".

you're correct range. i left out one important word....LIKE....that's why i used quotation marks.....i should have said, basically LIKE "reciprocating weight". the point i was trying to make is that lightening up any or all of the rotating mass has the same effect as lightening up the crank/rods/pistons....gets you accelerating quicker.

I run utility or tractor tubes from Tractor Supply a little more money but they are thicker.
