how can i tell the difference in a c-4 and a c-6 ford trans?? also what are the gear ratios in the trans, you have chevy posted in tool box but no fords, my friend races a ford and is trying to figure out his gearing!

a c-4 trans is much smaller and the bellhousing is removable, the ratios are 2.52 for 1st .....1.52 for 2nd and 1.1 for 3rd this is the same as c-6.

ok thanks for the info, i appreciate it. one other question though, without pulling the gears out, how can i tell roughly what rear end gears are in the car?

ford, do you have any doc for the ford trannies? I will put it up in the toolbox if I can get my hands on some.

Outlaw, count the teeth on the ring gear and the teeth on the pinion gear and divide the ring gear # by the pinion #. to do it without taking off the cover jack the car up and rotate the tire 10 turns and have someone count the turns the pinion makes. 27 turns is 270-1. 34 turns is 340-1 etc.

not sure what you mean by doc? but yea i probably can tell you anything you'd like to know about any ford trans if that is what you mean? lol, let me know jammin....

Documentation showing all the numbers etc. If you have anything showing all the different tranny ratios or anything like that, would be nice to share with the forum.
