Ok..doing weekly checks last night, and I found out we have a broken axle. It had been broken before and the guy that had the car before us just welded it back together (idiot). Anyway, I need to identify what the heck this rear end is out of. It is setting under a Monte, so that is no help. It measures right about 56" from flange to flange without the axles in the tubes, and the drivers side axle (31 spline no less) measures approximately 29.5" give or take a sixteenth or so for difficulty in measuring since it is in two pieces. It does have the big bearing ends. I have looked all over, and I can't figure out what it is out of. If there is anything else you would like to know, ask and I will tell you as best as I can. I just need to find an axle or axles (if I found two 28 spline axles, I could even deal with that) so we can get back to the track. Thanks.

dode, i believe the 9" that i had under my old car was that length as well? and i think it was out of a '78 ltd? this was 28 spline but if you found one, it would get you by. these are also the 4 1/2" bolt pattern with big bearing. is this what you are running or is it the truck axles?? hope i helped!!

You can buy new axles any length and bolt pattern you need from Mosier engineering. Check them out on the web at I get all my axles from them. I believe they run about $110. They have been very good to me and quite helpful.

Try this web page then click Ford 9-inch Rear-End Data it will tell you what car it came out of and the size of the axles. It will let you know what you need to look for.I also have two axles that are 28 spline that I will measure and let you know if they will work for you.

Hi Dode, I don't know off the top of my head what the rear end came out of.

For the past two weeks, I have been doing some fabricating for a company that builds Cobra replicas.......They have quite a pile of used axles........I'll do some digging tomorrow and see if I can come up with some. I expect to be in Topeka Saturday morining.

They use all new axles from Moser, and like Racer0 said , these are good axles. They sometimes put some monster engines in the Cobras, and have never had a problem with one.

Good luck,
