In my purestock i have my steel fuel lines going threw the car. DO you think this is good or bad ?? i did this so i can have a fuel shut off.

make sure you have them ecased in maybe rubber hose and make sure they cant move so vibration wont rub a hole in them.

I use steel braided hydraulic hose the type used on heavy machinery i think its good up to 5500# seems to work great for this application.

i run mine with rubber line along the frame rail like stock myself i see no need for a shut off it just takes that much longer to get out if there is a fire and it would have to be in reach of you to close for me

I have to agree with Racer17j. I'd rather get out as quick as I can and let the car do what it's going to do.

If you want a fuel shut-off, I suggest using an electric fuel pump if allowed (won't make a water-tite seal, but will stop the flow), or you might be able to find an actuated solenoid valve that is made for fuel.

I am not using any of the above and would not go through the trouble of mounting a soleniod valve. I'd still worry about it even if it were rated for fuel. I would consider using a fuel pump cut-off if our rules allowed elecric pumps.

Our rules do not allow any fuel lines in the driver's compartment and my opinion is that it is a good rule.

I just had an afterthought that may sound good to you... Get a teflon sealed ball valve that is made with an actuator mounting. This would have holes drilled and tapped on the top of the valve for the actuator mounting. You could mount your lines and the valve under the car and still have the valve handle inside. I still could not guarantee total safety but it would be better than having fuel inside the car. This valve should probably be between $30 & $60 and can be special ordered at an industrial or plumbing supply.
