I just built a 408 with 512 horsepower and I run on a 1/2 banked dirt track. I got a set of 342 gears in the rear end. I dont know if I'm geared right. I'd really like some advice and input... thanks, Joe

WOW, thats alot of power. Are you running a clutch or an automatic? and what gear are you running in? (by the way, what is a 1\2 banked track?)

find out what your final drive is, 2nd X 3.42 = final. with that much power you should be around 4.70 to 5.00 final. Heck, just run it in drive with the 3.42... LOL

I'm running an 350 turbo in 2nd gear. I ran the tranny and the 342 last yr with my 383 stroker and I war turning 8200 rpms. I dont know the banking of the track. Even on the tracks site it says high banked 1/2 mile clay oval. You all saying I got alot of power the points champion has $13,000 in his motor and like most of us we're turning open wheel times.I WAS talking to 1 of my former racers and he told me i needed like a 323 but aint that a highway gear. Thanks, Joe

So 5.20 is the gear I need to run or is it 2nd gear ratio. I was talking to 1 of the guys I use to run against and he told me he has a good set of 323 I think thats what he said that would work great with the motor. Thanks, Joe

Did the 373 work pretty good cause I got a set of them too. I just dont wanna go out and spend all kinds of money or go out the first night and not be able to compete. What do you think about a 323 it's something like that from what my sponsor told me would work great with the motor and he's a former racer that use to run a 408. Thanks, Joe
