Hey everybody,
I drive a late 70's impala in bomber class.
The track is 1/4 mile and the banks are right in between high banked and not high banked.
My question is....Are front sway bars preferred or not? I ran the stock one last year and did well. The past few weeks I've been looking for a little bit stronger sway bar for more speed through the turns. Well, I just found out that some people actually cut the sway bar and do something or other with it I'm not sure what really. What is the scoop on this and what does everyone else do?
Also clue me in on the rear sway bar...does it help, hurt or nothing at all?
Thanks

sway bars are a tuning device they are more effficent on asphalt than dirt we race for 25 yrs on dirt and tryed one off and on and never seem to make any major or if any difference most people just run a little stiffer right front to compensate for the bar but on asphalt it does have a larger effect u can actually feel the car when the sway bar catches it and pulls it back if u want a big bar check out z28 & trans am for the larger bars

Thanks, I got most of my info on swaybars from a guy that is more into just street cars. Your advice sounds pretty much what everyone else has said. Thanks again.

FROM WHAT I FOUND OUT,
I RAN ONE LAST YEAR,
IF YOU ARE LOOSE IT REALLY HELPS
TIGHTEN THE CAR UP,BUT IF YOU HAVE
A PUSH IT DOESN'T SEEM TO HELP AT ALL.
I PUT NEW SPRINGS IN FOR THIS YEAR.
IM GOING TO LEAVE THE SWAY BAR IN, BUT NOT
HOOKED UP.THEN IF I NEED IT I WILL HOOK
IT UP.

A metric swaybar weighs every bit of 50 lbs. I would consider that being bolted up in front of the motor if it does not make that much difference.
