I just finished my first year (not bad) on a 1/4" mi clay (Placerville, CA. I did really well after the new engine, but when we had a late main and the track was dry/slick, the car would push bad going in and even a little brake would make her spin. Withought brakes, the car would spin excelerating out of the turn. I crushed the field in the heat (wet/tacky), full lap on the track champ. Any help would be appreciated.

BTW: I run 14" stock tires w/1.5" stagger. 76 chevy nova, never weighed or scaled, heavy duty monroe shocks, sway bar front and rear... car rides like a rock.. very stiff.

First off, you need to get the car scaled, so you know where you weight is and what the cross is. As far as the car getting real loose while on the brakes, I would make sure your getting some front brake, and not just locking up the rear. I would work on the entry first, because your tight in problem may be causing your loose off.

do you have your railes tied with heavy materail i know most guys on here will disagree but we never tie them with anything and when the rules required it we uses realy small stuff three championships can't be to wrong. you might want to put some more stagger in it to help

If you are not doing so, you most probably need to bolt on some ballast in the rear of the car before the main when you anticipate the surface going dry/slick. How much? Well, you really should know what you're starting with, like someone suggested. Try to end up with about 53% in the rear. There are many possible remedies for your problem, but this one will be effective immediatly and easy for a rookie to adjust.

right on range we used to put all the mud from hotlapps in a pile and then pack it in the left rear kick panel in ours for dry slick we are not alowed to use lead so we bent to rules a bit
