Does anyone know if it is possible to put 6:10 gears in a stock 7.5" Chevrolet rear end or do I have to change out my carrier to a bigger size? Also does anyone know where I can find a set of gears this low?I want to put them in my 83'Camaro w/ a 2-speed,and an exotic 327.Thanks!!

I run a GM 10 bolt 8.5 rearend out of a Camaro and the biggest I can put in it is a 5.67. Presently I run a 5.38 and if I run 2nd gear on my 3 speed it will crank 6.8 on a 3/8 mile track.

what type track are you running that you would want to run that gear ? maybe somebody could give you some advises if we knew what size ,bank, type(clay, black dirt),and what size tires you are running to determin what gear would suit you best

The car will run on a 3/8 mile clay dirt track,it is semi-banked.I am currently building the car.I already have the Nascar pull-offs that we have to run.A few people that race that track all seem to run right about a 6:10 final ratio, and with the 2 speed trans running in 2nd gear would put my trans ratio at 1:1,and 1st gear is 1:81 this seems like it would give me a better"take off",to run in 2nd gear, and have a working 1st gear.My stall speed on my converter is 840 to 900rpms, if that makes any difference.

you will only be able to run 1-1 if you were to put a ford 9 inch or a gm 12 bolt that would give you the option of a 620 ford or a 614 in the 12 bolt your best bet if you don't want to change rear ends would be to run it in low 1.82 gear and put a 3.42 witch would give you a 6.22 thats what i'm going to run next year on a 3/8 track and the difference between waht you wanted in the 610 will not be any harder on the motor beingds you are running a 327 you can turn more rpm with a 327
