My friend runs a pure stock in Central Pa. This is our first year and we have some simple questions about set-up. We have to run dot tires, but we can have stagger. Right now we have close to 5 inches across the back, and about an inch and 1/2 across the front. We run between 14 and 18 lbs in the tires. I was wondering first what does a track tend to do as it dries out.... will it make the car looser or tighter? Secondly, are there any recommendations for how to loosen or tighten the car up, just by playing with the stagger, or especially the tire pressure. We have about 2 weeks left to race before the end of the season, and we would like to try to get the best results possible.

Thanks in advance,

Wally, when a track gets drier, you will add more left rear bite to the car. You can do this by adding crossweight in the car by decreasing the rear stagger or adding air to the RF or LR or taking away air on the LF RR and this will tighten your car up off of the turns. I hope this helps.
