Guys, I have to tell you, that if your driving without a fire suit, you are dealing with the devil. Man, they are necessary to keep your life! Just a thought.

Lets not forget gloves and a good helmet and so-on. If you cant afford the neccessary safety items, sit in the stands!

i can vow to the good of fire suits. I am not a car racer, but a go-karter. In go-kart you are not required to wear a fire suit because fires are thought to never happen. I had on a karting suit that was non fireproof. Anyway needless to say I rolled over and caught on fire giving me second and third degree burns on my back. The end result of all of this is that I did something I should have done a long time ago, I bought a real racing suit. The sad thing is that I got burned that bad in a go-kart, I could just imagine how bad someone could get burned in a racecar. If you are not wearing a racing suit in a race get one. I could tell you about the treatments I had to go to and anyone would agree that it is better to spend a $100 on a suit than go through that. Just giving my opinion.

At our local track, I probably see more without than with. Our Hobby Stocks absolutley fly, and some of them just wear jeans and a t-shirt.

I'm a line up offical at a local track.I and the track require all safty equipment or you don't have to race. This means a full fire suit(shoes optional),arm restraints or a window net, neck brace, and highly recomend gloves and a helment restraint in the open wheel classes. The puzzling fact that IMCA doesn't require an onboard fire extinguisher is strange. Track rules requires this except for IMCA.
