Hi, perhaps this will stimulate conversation...
In the midwest, IMCA allows the use of Motorcraft 2bbl carbs on Chevy engines, with the use of an adapter (they have a Holley 2bbl bolt pattern).
In other regions, Rochester 2G carbs (both stock and highly modified) are the norm.
In yet other places, teams are having success with the Holley 2bbl that has annular discharge venturi's - this carb is a 600cfm carb out of the box.
Others still, make use of "hybrid" 2bbl carbs that are made by bolting the baseplate from a Chevy 2G Rochester to the body of the early '70's 2G Rochester off a 455 Pontiac or Buick.
Depending on rules, some classes are allowed to get really radical and use the Predator carbs. Those rulebooks, being poorly written and specified, only call for something like "a single, one or two barrel carb"....
Hope this helps. Any other questions, feel free to email me or reply.
